Place a Classified

OVMA has revamped its classified advertising program, and the changes will go into effect in March 2019. Please read on to find out what's new and how these changes will affect advertisers.

Changes to Online Classifieds

  • OVMA has developed a new website dedicated to classified listings, where advertisers can simultaneously post their ads and submit payment.
  • Advertisers have the ability to hide their contact information or post ads anonymously.
  • They may also fine-tune their posts with a variety of criteria (such as full or part time, organization type, etc.) to help users find their ads.
  • If they wish, advertisers can include up to five relevant images with each post.
  • Advertisers will receive automatic email notifications when their payment has been received, their ad goes live, and when it's time to renew.
  • Additionally, advertisers have full control over their ads, even once they are posted: Users can simply log in to modify the ad text, take down an ad early, or renew an older expired ad.
  • The new website offers better organization and a more robust search function, making it easier for visitors to find ads that interest them.
  • Visitors can also set up search filters and receive email notifications when a matching ad is posted.
  • The platform also includes a built-in private messaging system wherein visitors can directly contact the advertiser for more information.
  • Visitors have the ability to ask questions about the ad, and advertisers can answer these questions either privately or post the answers for all to see. (The questions are not posted publicly unless the advertiser opts to do so.)

Changes to Print Classifieds

  • In an effort to provide more content relevant to more members, OVMA has decided to shrink the classified section of the printed newsletter.
  • Rather than several pages of text-based ads, the newsletter will now contain a limited number of classifieds in a display ad format.
  • Advertisers who wish to print their ad in the newsletter may upgrade during the online listing process.
  • Be advised, a limited number of display classifieds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will contact you to let you know which issue is the next available, and you can either confirm your placement in that issue or opt out.

The Transition Process

  • The new classified pricing and printing structure will go into effect on March 1, 2019.
  • In the interim, classified ads will be priced at whichever option yields a lower cost to the advertiser (i.e., the old structure or the new).
  • Advertisers will have the option to print one last classified ad in the January/February newsletter or to take advantage of a 50% discount on participating in the MVC Professional Fair.
