Catswell brand cat food recalled over propylene glycol contamination

Catswell Brand VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and VitaminsArthur Dogswell is voluntarily recalling 1,050 cartons of Catswell brand VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and Vitamins due to possible propylene glycol contamination. Propylene glycol may lead to anemia and oxidative cell damage, though no illnesses have been reported yet. The contaminant was identified during routine FDA testing.

WellPet issues voluntary recall on certain lots of canned cat food

WellPet LLC announced Monday that it has voluntarily recalled certain lots of Wellness canned cat food. While recent laboratory testing found that most lots of Wellness canned cat food that were tested contain sufficient amounts of thiamine (also known as Vitamin B1), some of the lots listed below might contain less than adequate levels of thiamine.  However, WellPet has decided to recall all of the lots listed below as a precaution. The products involved in this recall are:

  • All flavors of Wellness Canned Cat Food with best by dates from April 14, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2013.
  • All sizes of Wellness Canned Cat Chicken & Herring with best by dates of Nov. 10, 2013 and Nov. 17, 2013.
