Veterinarians who agree to practice large animal medicine in a designated “shortage area” for up to two years may be eligible to receive up to $20,000 in veterinary student loan repayment funds.

A federal program also has loan repayment funds but complete details on how the money will be awarded is not yet available.

The Ohio program is administered by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board, which has a May 1, 2010, deadline for applications for a 2010 award.
