Toledo Humane Society, Northwest Ohio’s largest and oldest nonprofit animal shelter, is seeking a part-time or full-time veterinarian to help us grow our programs and services. We have recently expanded from two full-time veterinarians to three-full time and one veterinarian 3days/week, and are growing faster than we anticipated. Adding one more veterinarian to our team would allow us to have two veterinarians working together both in the shelter and in our community medicine clinic.
Enjoy the best of both worlds by practicing shelter medicine and community medicine with a collaborative, supportive, fun team. Our veterinarians and RVT’s are passionate, dedicated, and caring individuals who work hard, have a lot of fun, and make a difference for animals every day.
Our shelter is well equipped, with digital and dental x-rays, surgery suite with two tables, and two Midmark 1000 dental machines. We enjoy practicing comprehensive medicine and treating challenging/complex medical and surgical cases, and refer to specialists when needed.
We have recently opened a facility to provide low-cost medical and surgical care for owned pets in a resource-challenged community. New team members will have the opportunity to help us shape the direction of this new clinic and have a profound impact on the families in this community. We enjoy being able to help an animal even when the cost is beyond the owner’s reach, and we leave each day knowing we have truly made a difference.
We are looking for a team member who is excited to practice veterinary medicine and interested in continuing to develop their medical and surgical skills. Previous experience in HQHV surgery, forensics, or orthopedics is a plus, or interest in learning in these areas. New grads are welcome to apply – we are committed to mentoring and supporting professional and personal growth, and we value your personal time. Our workday allows for the flexibility to support your personal life – for example making it to your kid’s soccer game or dentist appointment – we figure out how to make it work for everyone.
Full-time employment is 36 hours (four days)/week, part-time can be anywhere from one to three days per week. We offer a competitive salary. Full-time employees enjoy generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, generous 401(k) match, EAP, PTO and paid holidays. Both full and part-time DVM’s receive an annual allowance for CE, professional memberships, and licensing. Working for a nonprofit may qualify you for student loan forgiveness.
