FDA issues warning about Aunt Jeni’s raw pet food

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is cautioning dog owners not to feed certain lots of Aunt Jeni’s Home Made frozen raw pet food after two samples tested positive for Salmonella and/or Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected products are:

  • Turkey Dinner Dog Food
    • Package size: 5 lb (2.3kg)
    • Lot: 175199
    • Best-by date: July 2020
  • Chicken Dinner Dog Food
    • Package size: 5 lb (2.3kg)
    • Lot: 1152013
    • Best-by date: July 2020

FDA is issuing this alert because these lots of Aunt Jeni’s Home Made frozen raw pet food represent a serious threat to human and animal health. Because these products are sold and stored frozen, consumers may still have them in their possession.

Pet owners who have any of the above Aunt Jeni’s products should discontinue feeding and throw it away in a secure container where other animals, including wildlife, cannot access it. If you have either of the product varieties listed and cannot determine the lot code, FDA recommends that you exercise caution and discard the product anyway. All surfaces and any items (bowls, toys, etc.) that came in contact with the product should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
