FDA warns pet owners about Darwin’s raw dog food

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is cautioning pet owners not to feed their pets three lots of Darwin’s Natural Pet Products raw dog food after a samples from these lots tested positive for Salmonella.

The products in question were sold online direct to consumers. The lot codes are listed in the second group of numbers below the barcode on the package. These products and lot codes are as follows:

The FDA collected and analyzed unopened product samples in response to a consumer complaint, and test results from all three lots were positive for Salmonella.

Because these products are sold and stored frozen, the FDA is concerned that people may still have them in their possession. If you have any of the above items, the agency recommends discontinuing use and disposing of them.

Darwin’s disputed the FDA warning, stating that there is no inherent public health risk, and customers were already aware of the situation as a result of the company’s own communications. The company encourages consumers with questions to call 866-832-8319 for more information.
